DIRTIE BIRDIE
trail run

Dirtie Birdie takes flight Saturday, November 7, 2026, at Lake Thunderbird State Park in Norman, Oklahoma. The race takes place on the Clear Bay trail system, just a short drive from downtown Norman.

Dirtie Birdie offers 3-, 6-, 9-, and 18-mile distances, plus relay options for the 6 and 18 milers. Whether you’re dipping a toe into trail running or looking for a longer day in the woods, there’s a distance for you.

Expect real trail running: dirt, roots, rocks, turns, climbs, and whatever November in Oklahoma decides to throw at us. The Clear Bay trail system has also recently undergone $1,000,000 of improvements, giving runners a refreshed route through the wooded terrain around Lake Thunderbird.

Absolutely. The shorter distances are a great way to try trail running without committing to an ultra-length adventure. That said, this is still a trail race. Expect a different challenge than running the same distance on pavement.

A little dirt is kind of the point. Race-day plans will depend on trail and weather conditions, and any important updates will be communicated to registered participants.Race officials will monitor conditions and determine whether any safety changes are needed. Please follow event staff instructions and watch your inbox and Dirtie Birdie’s social media for updates.(If you’re not muddy when you go home, did you even Dirtie Birdie?)

Yep! Walkers are welcome as long as you can complete your distance within the course time limits.
